With the facial skin, things like pimples or acne, acid attacks, hot substances, or any type of inflammation can lead to facial scars; which can be temporary or permanent. In addition to that, the facial skin suffers the daily sunburn, pollution, and improper care in some people.

Certainly, all these leave your face dry, increases the speed of aging,  among others.

Facial Scar Treatment Options

There are different types of facial scar treatment options that a patient may choose and it depends on the extent of the damage and the affordability on the patient’s side. Here are some of the treatments a patient can choose from.

⦁    Plastic Surgery.

Plastic surgeries are surgical techniques that correct deformities on the face or deep scars. During this treatment, the surgeon removes the scar or the epidermis or moves the scar to minimize its appearance. The success rate of a plastic surgery highly depends on the experience and expertise of a surgeon.

⦁    Laser Resurfacing.

Laser resurfacing works like chemical peels and it works by removing the top layer of the skin. Unlike acids, this treatment approach uses high-powered laser beams for skin removal. A patient can choose from either erbium or carbon dioxide laser resurfacing.

⦁    Dermabrasion.

Quite effective and popular among facial treatment techniques, this approach uses a wire brush to exfoliate the top layer of the skin. This treatment option can reduce facial scars to at least 70%.

⦁    Chemical Peels.

Chemical peels are of different types and they include; deep peel, superficial peel, and medium peel. These are applied depending on the facial damage and they can penetrate deeper into the skin depending on the type of chemical peel used.

Apart from the above-mentioned scar corrective measures, there are different dermatologist treatments or methods that a person can utilize to reduce or treat scars.
