PRP FOR HAIR FALL

PRP therapy is a non-surgical hair loss treatment where a person’s blood is drawn from the body, processed, and lastly introduced into the scalp to restore the lost hair. The PRP therapy can stimulate natural hair growth and rejuvenate the scalp. This treatment is also a nourishment as it increases blood supply to the hair follicles and also increases the thickness of the hair shaft.

The Procedure of PRP Treatment For Hair Fall

  • First of all, a patient must get an evaluation for the doctor to understand the extent of hair fall. It should be noted that this treatment is administered in rounds which is between weeks.
  • The first step of the treatment involves the extraction of the blood from a patient; normally on the arm.
  • The blood is then put into a centrifuge and this machine will spin the blood rapidly to separate fluids of different densities. After 10 minutes, the fluids are separated into different layers which are; platelet-poor plasma, platelet-rich plasma, and red blood cells.
  • The platelet-rich plasma is then transfered into a syringe and then injected into the affected regions in the scalp.
  • It should be noted that platelet rich plasma can be used as a sole hair fall treatment or in combination with a hair transplant.

Any Side Effects of Platelet-Rich Plasma Treatment?

An initial consultation is required before this treatment and during this, a patient is suposed to disclose all the medications that he or she is using.

Th doctor may not recommend PRP treatment in case od several medical issues like chronic liver disease, cancer, low platelet count, you are on blood thinners or otherwise.

Unlike hair transplants, the risk of an infection is reduced by PRP therapy since the patient’s blood is used. It is also injected into the scalp using a new syringe.

In other cases, a patient may experience injury to the blood vessels or nerves, an infection, scar tissue, and calcification at the injection areas.

Cost Concerns!

Platelet-Rich Plasma is administered in rounds, in a space of weeks and this means you have to discuss the treatment sessions with the doctor.

The cost of PRP treatment may begin from 60,000 and above but the entire cost varies according to the extent of hair loss, treatment rounds and so on.
